What’s Going on With Me Wednesday

Goals Update…

TreadmillSo March was a meh month for me when it came to meeting my goals.  I think it was the pre-springtime blahs, or maybe it’s because we had a ton of personal stuff (all good) going on.  Anyway, here’s this month’s progress.

When it comes to blogging, I’ve been doing this blog for a long, long time, and honestly don’t want to blog just to blog, so from now on, it’ll be for any kind of writing announcements, guest bloggers, any book reviews I decide to do (especially now that Amazon has hoovered up Goodreads, and I won’t be able to post there), and stuff like that.

The writerly stuff will also include things like contest announcements (which I’ll be starting up again with the release of my latest book in July), so stay tuned!

March Goals Update

Treadmill

Still doing well on the weight loss front (yeah!), and while I didn’t get as far on my posted goals as I would have liked, I’m hoping things even out a bit across the board for the month of March.  Cross fingers for me!

Feb Goal Update

TreadmillDoing okay on my goals.  Wish I was further on my writing, but the day job has been sucking all the creativity right out of me…

Workout progress and all manner of good things…

I’ve been kicking ass on the workout front…five days a week on the treadmill, and outside exercise when it’s not stupid frosty.  So (cross fingers), I can totally see myself hitting my 13 miles per week by the end of the month.  Been doing okay on the rest of my goals as well.  To be honest, I wanted to make the exercise and water portions a habit before I started to go balls to the wall on the rest of my goals, so I’m willing to accept a few areas where I’m not meeting them in order to make all of them my new reality by the end of the year.

How are you doing on your goals?

Ringing in the New Year

This will be the first of my monthly “check ins”.  Obviously I don’t have a whole heckuva lot to report yet 🙂

On the writing front, got my cover suggestions and file of Into the Fire up to my awesome cover artist, April Martinez, and really fine-tuned the first three chapters of Shoot to Thrill, which went through some pretty massive changes.  Think I’ve got a good grasp on it, and am now diving into the rest of it.  The additional threads I’m adding in aren’t necessarily huge in wordcount (I’ll probably end up adding about 5K), but they’re vital in expanding my main character’s motivations.

I’d LOVE to get the revisions done by the time I head back to the day job on the 7th (and hand them off to my critique partner), so I can start work on something new, so cross fingers.

Love the energy I feel with the start of the new year, and hoping I can leverage it into a looooong span!

Facing the blank page…

Writerly update…

Just a quick pop in to say … I’ve actually been writing!  Almost finished with the revisons for my “aha” moment last week, and as soon as I’ve got those worked in (by the weekend at the latest), I’ll write the last two chapters with confidence.  Crossed fingers, first draft to my beta readers by 31 March!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming, while I write!  LOL…

Fingers on keyboard…

I sent my draft of Shoot to Thrill to Thrill to the bestest critque partner ever (props to PG Forte) to eyeball before I cranked out the last few chapters.  Oh, indecision, thy name is Terri!!!  LOL!

In the meantime, however, I cranked out 500 words on a novella idea I’m playing with.  Forgot how much fun it is to play with something new!

Diligently working away on Shoot to Thrill

Really, this time I mean what I say *G*. Maybe because it’s too freakin’ hot to do anything else but stay inside! On my way home I drove past the Officer’s Club and their thermometer said 111 degrees. Not shitting you here.

On the writing front, in rewrites last night I made it to the scene that was stalling me. It ALL has to go, but luckily it was only a few pages long and I can condense the outcome, which was what I was going for. The deets were just waaaay too much and totally detracted from the story arc. But sometimes we need to step away from the manuscript for a bit to see the forest for the trees.

Happy to say that I sat down and sketched out the last few chapters. That’s not to say they’ll actually play out that way *G*, but I’d say there’s a better than 80% chance the end is in sight. Whew! This one’s been a long time coming!!!

OOOH, look at the pretty author copies!!

I SOOOO love getting author copies! Look at how pretty these turned out…they go on sale 5 July!!!
