What’s Going on With Me Wednesday

Facing the blank page…

Writerly update…

Just a quick pop in to say … I’ve actually been writing!  Almost finished with the revisons for my “aha” moment last week, and as soon as I’ve got those worked in (by the weekend at the latest), I’ll write the last two chapters with confidence.  Crossed fingers, first draft to my beta readers by 31 March!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming, while I write!  LOL…

Fingers on keyboard…

I sent my draft of Shoot to Thrill to Thrill to the bestest critque partner ever (props to PG Forte) to eyeball before I cranked out the last few chapters.  Oh, indecision, thy name is Terri!!!  LOL!

In the meantime, however, I cranked out 500 words on a novella idea I’m playing with.  Forgot how much fun it is to play with something new!

Diligently working away on Shoot to Thrill

Really, this time I mean what I say *G*. Maybe because it’s too freakin’ hot to do anything else but stay inside! On my way home I drove past the Officer’s Club and their thermometer said 111 degrees. Not shitting you here.

On the writing front, in rewrites last night I made it to the scene that was stalling me. It ALL has to go, but luckily it was only a few pages long and I can condense the outcome, which was what I was going for. The deets were just waaaay too much and totally detracted from the story arc. But sometimes we need to step away from the manuscript for a bit to see the forest for the trees.

Happy to say that I sat down and sketched out the last few chapters. That’s not to say they’ll actually play out that way *G*, but I’d say there’s a better than 80% chance the end is in sight. Whew! This one’s been a long time coming!!!

OOOH, look at the pretty author copies!!

I SOOOO love getting author copies! Look at how pretty these turned out…they go on sale 5 July!!!

Just three of those things

I was reviewing what I’d written for Shoot to Thrill today and found three very disturbing things…

1. I use the words “weird” and “hinky” waaaaaay too much
2. I actually have a character whose first name is the same as the heroine’s last name. Confusing much?
3. I replaced the last name “Grant” with “Jenkins” and found, on page 8, that something had been “Jenkinsed” instead of “granted”. sigh

RuneQuest series now available for $.99 each on Kindle!

I decided to take my old fantasy romance series to Amazon and see how it does there.  The stories are shorter (novella length) and under my Keira Ramsay name (so a bit spicier than TL Schaefer’s stuff), but if you’re of a mind, check one of them out for under a buck!

Happy Easter,.spring gardening and a word count update!

Happy Easter, everyone! It was muy blucky  here today, so we went to brunch and then kind of lazed around. Part of that  was because we went into a backyard demolition frenzy yesterday, and got a  years-overgrown herb garden completely demo’d, refortified the existing dirt,  and then planted the beginnings of a new garden in addition to moving a bunch  of semi-large rocks in to border it (think too big to move by hand, but fits in  a wheelbarrow). Both kinda sore today, but it was that good kind of sore from  putting in physical labor, which neither of us gets much in our daily desk  jobs.

Colored eggs last night because  apparently we’re still ten years old at heart *G*, and I got Peeps this morning  in my Easter basket, so all is right in my world.

Also got 1500 words written today on  Shoot to Thrill, for a grand total of 4700 this week! That made me really  happy, since I haven’t had significant word count in quite a long time, so this definitely jazzed me up and got me back on track.

So how was YOUR Easter??

On not smoking, being sick, and playing with new ideas…

Not a whole lot of writing going on with me right now, tho I’ve hit almost two weeks being smoke free!  So while I may not have been doing a bunch of writing, we have been doing the home improvement thing.  Our master bedroom is now finished, with the exception of some truly wonderful pictures we’re going to be picking up one pay period at a time.  Next is landscaping, when it warms up a smidge.

Right now, tho, I’m struggling with the crud that’s been going around the clinic, so have been home for the last day and a half, which is a total anomaly for me.  Next week is our big base inspection, so I figured if I was gonna get sick, then yesterday and today were the best possible alternatives.

In happy news, I HAVE been toying with an idea I’d like to work on a bit over the next few weeks.  I’d love to have a few chapters written prior to my crit partners/soul sister’s arrival in late March.  Right now I’m noodling with the concept a bit more, then I’ll attack and see what happens.  So why the “new” idea, you may ask…  Well, because I decided to start something completely new and different, and at least get the partial, if nothing else, done prior to RWA Nationals in July.  It just seems like I’ve put so much energy into trying to sell View that I’m starting to despise it a little, and that’s no way to be.  I’m going to give myself some time and space, so I can love it again, and be its strongest advocate, if that makes any sense at all.

Sooo, I’ve begun work on a new romantic suspense book, and will also tinker with an idea for a novella for Liquid Silver or Samhain as I go.

Anyway, as you can tell, I went with the “doing 120 things” option rather than “curling up into a fetal ball”, which is always a good thing!
